Research Supervisor Schorlarships

Many professors offer basic financial support to their students. Talk to your supervisor to find out what financial assistance he or she can provide.

The Faculty of Medicine suggests that research supervisors provide the student with a minimum annual income of $15,000 for master’s students and $18,000 for doctoral students or, if applicable, an amount consistent with the requirements of the professor’s granting agency. If necessary, your future supervisor will help you apply for a scholarship from one of the granting agencies (FRSQ, CIHR, NSERC, etc.).

Financial support to success

The Faculty of medicine offers financial support to all graduate students who complete their studies on schedule. Master’s students who apply and meet the eligibility criteria will receive a bonus at the initial deposit of their master’s thesis. For eligible doctoral students who apply, In-course Studentship can cover much of the cost of tuition.

Doctoral Admission Scholarship

The majority of PhD students are entitled to an admission scholarship. Université Laval offers a scholarship of $2,000 to all students (Canadian or foreign) enrolled for the first time in a full-time Ph.D. program at Université Laval during the summer, fall or winter sessions. No application is necessary and all eligible students will receive a confirmation letter.

For more information on eligibility and procedures, please visit the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (Bureau des bourses et de l’aide financière – BBAF) website (French version only).

Financial Aid for Foreign Students

Through certain agreements, international students may be granted exemption from the tuition fees normally charged to foreign students.  Many scholarship programs are also available through the federal and provincial governments, private foundations and the Fondation de l’Université Laval.

Information on scholarships is available on the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (BBAF) website (French version only), including the Merit Scholarship Program for Foreign Students (PBEEE), The Leadership and Sustainable Development Scholarship Program, etc.
