In today’s aging society, the fields of physical rehabilitation and social integration will be increasingly important: statistics predict that one in five persons will live with a physical disability. Université Laval is one of the leaders in rehabilitation research, as shown by our professors’ important involvement in the following:

Examples of Research

Our researchers are concentrating on the following issues:

  • Studying the personal and environmental determinants of the social participation of persons living a with physical disabilities
  • Identifying risk factors for dementia
  • Evaluating clinical practices in long-term care
  • Evaluating geriatric services
  • Understanding and preventing occupational burnout in caregivers
  • Developing research on the eye and its diseases, including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration and uveal melanoma
